Annual Good Samaritan Inn 5K Health Run / Walk Set for August 26 this year

The Annual Good Samaritan 5K Health Run/Walk was officially launched at a special handover ceremony of a state of the art X-ray machine to the Good Samaritan Inn Health Clinic located at 2 -4 Geffrard Place, near the Heroes Circle on May 16, 2018.
Patrons were invited to register for the event which is set to start at 6:00 am on August 26, 2018 which is the last Sunday in August.
“Every year we do the 5k Health Run / Walk so that we can help the community,” said Ms. Karel Rose, meet director of the event.
Senator Floyd Morris, Patron of the 5K Health Run/ Walk said he was more than happy to be associated with the 5K Health Run / Walk event because it was being staged for a worthy cause.
“Once the team at Andrews Memorial Church asked me to be patron of the event, I had no hesitation because I know it is for a worthy cause,” Morris said. “The Good Samaritan Inn has been catering to some of the most vulnerable individuals in the city,” added Morris who pledged his continued support for the 5k event which was started in 2007 by the Health Ministries Department of the Andrews Memorial SDA Church.
Health Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton who was a participant in last year’s staging of the event committed to run again this year when he reflected on his performance in the race last year with his running partner Dr. Floyd Morris.
Patrons are invited to collect forms for the event at the church or follow the Andrews Memorial SDA Church and Good Samaritan Inn 5K Facebook pages for updates regarding the event.
Registration forms may be dropped off at the church office as well as payment for the race.
The route for the race will remain as it was last year and starts at the Andrews Memorial SDA Church, down unto Hope Road, turning left on Trafalgar Road and going through New Kingston. Patrons will then turn on Lady Musgrave Road then back unto Hope Road and finish right in front of the church.
The Annual Run/Walk is one of the projects facilitated by the Health Ministries Department of the Andrews Memorial SDA Church, and is part of the emphasis on health and wellness. The proceeds from the event primarily support projects at the Good Samaritan Inn and other charities that work with vulnerable communities.
